“Madhurādhipaterakhilaḿ madhuraḿ”- Sri. Vallabhacharya

“Oh Krishna, the emperor of sweetness!

Everything about you is always beautiful and charming!”

Are you ready to go back in time and roam the streets of Vrindavan reverberating with the lilting sounds from the anklets of the lovely Gopikas, the cow-herd maidens, as they dance gloriously to the enchanting music emanating from the magical flute of the ever-mischievous yet sweet and divine cowherd boy? Are you ready to revel in the celebration of the butter-thief, who not only steals butter but everyone’s hearts? Are you ready to be regaled by the extraordinary tales of one who danced on the mighty serpent, Kalinga and yet, acts petrified of his mother, Yashoda?  Then, here we come , to take you on an ethereal journey with (Y)OUR Krishna…Kannan…Vittala…Kanha!!!

“MADHURAM”, a brand new Bharatanatyam production conceptualized and choreographed by Dr. Janaki Rangarajan, brings you the scintillating beauty of Krishna as you immerse in the sheer bliss of his aura through sparkling dance and mellifluous music. The songs have been specifically chosen from different parts of India to highlight the pan-Indian nature of Krishna’s all pervading presence. With exquisite lyrics by Saint Annamacharya, Smt. Ambujam Krishna, Saint Purandaradasa, Maharaja Swati Tirunal, Sant Tukaram and many others, be prepared to get drenched in the myriad soundscapes from all over India in multiple languages - Tamil, Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Hindi!

A “sweet” production performed by a group of graceful young dancers, disciples of Dr. Janaki Rangarajan,  “Madhuram” is assured to take you far away from the madness of this divisive world to a place where love and ONLY LOVE REIGNS!

This production will premiere with a live orchestra in collaboration with Maturya school of carnatic music with young upcoming musicians lending vocal support. A never-seen before performance in Richmond with young minds, born and raised in North America, coming together to spread the glory of the Indian classical arts and culture!

So, please join us on to joyously welcome the Spring, the season of love, by invoking the divinity inside and outside of us!
